Overthinking and perfectionism is so sneaky about stopping you in your tracks. Because you’re likely to spend so much time ruminating on decisions that you might even be giving yourself a false sense of putting in the work. This is how you end up “busy” but with little results to show for it. In reality, overthinking and perfectionism is a tactic of delaying, procrastinating and potentially even stopping yourself from moving forward. It’s self sabotage disguised as wanting to do your best work. If we’re being completely honest it’s a mindset block that is usually rooted in some kind of fear - fear of not being good enough, fear of failure, fear of rejection.
You’ve got to know, especially if you’re a new entrepreneur, starting a new business, or launching something for the first time - you may not ace it right out of the gate and that is totally okay. Like an Olympic gold medalist in swimming may not have won their very first swim meet. But you know what they did? They put in the work, improved their technique, trained wholeheartedly and went for that gold again, and again, and again.
Clarity comes from action
If you want to get motivated to launch and you want to keep that momentum going - you just have to start. Clarity will come from taking consistent action. The fastest way to find your winning business idea or your product that creates profits is to launch. You have to get the feedback on your MVP (minimum viable product) to make it exactly what your target audience wants. Then, market your irresistible offer. The only way to do that is to launch.
Make the commitment to launch and set yourself up to follow through
Is this a “side hustle” or a business?
While it is 100% okay to have a side project or a hobby that you’re passionate about, if your ultimate goal is to up-level your business then treat it that way. Show up like you’re making an investment in your business. When you invest your time or money you are affirming your commitment to launch. Here are some simple steps you can take to shift your mindset from “side hustle” to “business”:
Setup your launch goals.
Create a clear action plan.
Decide what actions you are going to take and what you can potentially outsource
Get your action plan into your calendar. Don’t leave it on a to-do list that you won’t tend to or forget.
Hold yourself accountable. Can you find an accountability partner or surround yourself with like-minded people who are also in a launch phase?
